The Tale of Lillian
Well, if you still remember my last ATOR chapter (probably you won't, since it was uploaded over 3 months ago), you will remember that Gabriel Random married a mysterious blonde woman by the name of Lillian Tale. Now, I know that many of you were curious about who she was at the time. And then I disappeared for about 2 months.
Now that I'm back, I think it would be interesting to explain who Lillian really is (since I probably won't include what I'm about to tell you in the actual story). Firstly, she's not a simself. She's not a legacy sim either. I don't know if there is any legacy sim with the same name as her around, but if there is, that's just a coincidence.
The character of Lillian Tale was kind of created by me...kind of. You see, this all goes back to my childhood, when I used to read lots and lots of Agatha Christie books at my grandparents' house. Ah, good times. :)
The thing is, there was one book (can't remember which now, since I've read so many - but it was a Poirot one) where a woman was talking about how children could be cruel. She told Poirot about a terrible story she had once heard. A 7-year-old girl (seen by everyone as an adorable, charming child) murdered her younger siblings (6 month old twins, a boy and a girl) by smothering them with pillows. The name of the child murderer was never mentioned, and this story ended up not being relevant for the plot of the book.
I was so shocked by this "story inside the story" when I first read the book, that I decided to explore it further. I gave the girl the name of Lillian Tale, and in my mind she had long, curly blonde hair and dark blue eyes. I also named her ill-fated twin siblings Stephen and Carol Tale, and even gave names to the parents (Gary and Almira Tale).
I thought it was a pity that there weren't more details about this story, since it could have been turned into an interesting tale. So I imagined that Lillian had killed her siblings due to jealousy taken to the extreme - she had been the only child for almost 7 years, adored by all, and then the twins arrived to "ruin" her life. I also imagined that the father would have also died shortly after the murder (in a plane crash, car accident or something of the sort), leaving poor grief-sticken Almira alone to deal with Lillian.
Then I kind of forgot the whole story...until I remembered it again this summer. You see, I always had the idea that Gabriel, being the House of Fallen Trees heir, would marry a blonde girl - more precisely, their papergirl. She was perfect for the role. She had brown eyes (that no Random had been born with yet) and the Pao face (many people consider that face ugly as sin, but I happen to be quite fond of it). I saw her as someone who would easily be manipulated by Felicia and Gabriel. A victim.
But then Gabriel eventually grew up and, without a particular reason, I had the idea of marrying him not to the blonde papergirl, but to a sim version of Lillian Tale. Lillian, now a young woman disturbed by her dark past, would have been trying to find a new life for her, a place where no one knew what she had done. Of course, Felicia found out everything about her as soon as she arrived to Randomville and she manipulated her, forcing her to make Gabriel fall in love with her and basically control him. If she didn't obey, Felicia would tell everyone her secret. And that's what happened. Lillian is being controlled by Felicia, but she's not exactly a robot, as one of you (Shannon? Lala? Nicole?) suggested. There you have the whole story, and I hope this will make Lillian's actions more understandable in the future.
