The Darriells - a somewhat longer update

So, last time, the Darriell household had two sims in it: Thyra Darriell (currently an elder) and Felicia Darriell (her daughter, a child); an imaginary friend, Sydney Darriell (a child just like her sim friend Felicia); and three cats: Silly Darriell (elder female cat), Sir Puffy Darriell (elder male cat, Silly's mate) and Misha Darriell (adult female cat, Sir Puffy and Silly's daughter).

Shortly after becoming a child, Felicia showed an interest in making potions. I indulged her. (Don't sim kids look so cute in their mad scientist lab coats, by the way?)

I also had Thyra adopt a cat from the pet shelter, a mate for Misha. His original name was Boo, and I renamed him Benjamin Darriell.

It was pretty easy to get their relationship all the way up to best friend level, and then have them try for kittens right away. They succeeded in the first try.

A couple of days later, Misha gave birth to two kittens: a male who was named Mungus Darriell (the one standing away from her in the 2nd picture) and a female, Arya Darriell (the one standing next to her).

Felicia soon fell in love with the little things.

She also made a friend during that time, who remains her best friend to this time. The girl's name is Verónica.

Her teen birthday came rolling soon afterward. I think she turned out to be quite pretty, even if not in a conventional way. She makes the large nose and bright orange hair work now, while as a toddler she just looked a bit odd.

And soon after Felicia became a teen, Thyra achieved her lifetime want - she became an International Super Spy (and got a spiffy black dress out of it).

Not all events were happy ones around that time, though. The Grim Reaper came for Sir Puffy when he reached the age of 52 days.
It was a bit baffling to see the way he guided the cat in such a friendly way to the afterlife - because this TS3 Grim can be a complete jerk to dead/dying sims, as I've already noticed.

I placed Sir Puffy's grave in the backyard, so that his ghost can be around for the family to interact with.

The whole family, sim and feline, took his death quite hard. The sim members of the family did their best to try and distract themselves, but they were miserable for the 2 whole days of mourning.
And did you notice how Felicia was in her formal wear when Sir Puffy died? She had been notified about her prom night earlier that day. Sir Puffy died by nightfall, which meant she never did get to go to prom.

Some days after their grandfather's death, Mungus (1st pic) and Arya (2nd pic) became adults.

That was also when I decided to have all cats start improving their Hunting skills. It is quite a sight to see 5 cats run around the yard catching small animals (or trying to).

Felicia's friend Verónica called her one day, saying that her cat had given birth, and that she'd love for Felicia to come over and adopt a kitten. So, Felicia went over to her friend's house.

The family cat, Jezebel, seems to be a Scottish Fold. Quirky-looking cat.

Her only kitten was a female named Mackie. I had Felicia adopt her, so that she'd become Mungus' mate in the future.

As there isn't a way to go home taking the kitten (I think), Felicia had to place Mackie outside, and the little thing ran all the way over to the Darriell house.
Oh, and by the way, she was soon renamed Norrie Darriell.

Sir Puffy's ghost paid the family a visit around the time they adopted Norrie. He must have been a shy ghost, because it took him 4 or 5 sim days to finally appear.

He played a bit with his former mate (which was adorable to see).

And then promptly went to sleep. It's kind of amusing how ghosts randomly decide to go to sleep in this game...you'd think that being free to wander around among the living for a limited amount of time, they'd do something more interesting. But no.

Mungus quickly made friends with his future mate. He was also the one who helped her develop her Hunting skill, so that she could join all of them in their crazy shenanigans around the backyard soon.

He also took the time to care for his Grandma Silly. How sweet. I've been lucky with these sim cats, they all get along very well. Like I said before, way more docile than real cats.

Sadly, it was time for the Grim Reaper to pay the family another visit. This time, he came for Thyra, while she was at the gym, no less. She was around 90 sim days of age, give or take a day.

These two guys (the teen, Kain, is the brother of Felicia's friend Verónica, the old man, Calvin, is the brother of Felicia's father) didn't find a better way to react to witnessing a death than complaining about their hunger. Idiots.

At least there was a good friend of Thyra there when she died (Xenia Bedlington, daughter of a premade couple). She took her friend's death quite hard.

Poor Felicia had to run over to the gym to get her mother's grave and take it back home. So sad that Thyra didn't even get to see her become a young adult.

Thyra's grave was placed outside, next to Sir Puffy's.

Her ghost, unlike his, was not shy at all. She appeared just a day after her death, and stuck around, playing the guitar. Which was terrible for the cats, as they hate that noise and I can't exactly get a ghost to stop what they're doing.

Felicia spent her remaining time as a teenager making friends. She finally has a relationship of sorts with her estranged father, Cornell Riffin.

She soon became a young adult, and on that same day, Norrie reached her adult years. (By this time, Misha had already become an elder - and Silly is still alive at over 60 sim days of age. I wonder how long she'll live, as I don't know what the normal lifespan for sim cats is...)

See, she is quite pretty, isn't she?

She went to the City Hall for her graduation ceremony...which was pretty sad, as she didn't have anyone there to witness it. There weren't even any other graduates around.

Felicia also got a job in the Musical career track soon after becoming a young adult (her lifetime want is to become a Rock Star).

I also had Misha and Benjamin visit the neighbourhood Cat Jungle, where they caught some fish. Apparently sim cats don't mind water too much, which is another thing making them almost the opposite of real cats (yes, I know there are breeds that actually like water, but they are a minority).

I have only played until this point so far, so this is where I'll end this update. Expect a new one soon.

And, by the way, here are everyone's traits, which I didn't mention before (the * marks the learned traits the cats have, as opposed to the traits they were born/generated with):
-Thyra: Insane; Hot-Headed; Daredevil; Virtuoso; Charismatic
-Felicia: Virtuoso; Genius; Family-Oriented; Loner; Animal Lover
-Sydney: Virtuoso; Rebellious; Excitable; ???; ???
-Silly: Playful; Calm; Hyper*; Non-destructive*; Neat*; Hunter*
-Sir Puffy: Playful; Calm; Non-destructive*; Neat*
-Misha: Playful; Calm; Neat*; Hunter*
-Benjamin: Independent; Hunter*

Thanks, Ashley! I did get some adorable cats, even if Norrie is a bit odd-looking (though still cute in her own way). And Felicia has quite the unusual kind of beauty, yes. Can't wait to see how will the next generation fare in looks.
