In the last chapter, Gauri's twin daughters, Blanche and Branwen, became very close friends during their childhood. Confronted with the fact that only one of them could inherit, Branwen showed fear and insecurity, saying she wanted to be with her sister forever, while Blanche, the more mature one, tried to comfort her, saying they'd find a solution. At the end of the chapter, the girls became teens and there was a heir poll. And now is time for me to announce who is the gen 3 heiress...

...wait a minute. Where is everyone, Gauri?
"Oh, Mother and the twins went over to the Clavell house. It seems like my father is going to die today."
And you aren't there with them because...
"Because me and my father were never close. Don't worry, I will go there as soon as the Grim Reaper appears. Now, if you excuse me, I am working out."
Gauri... *shakes head disapprovingly* You'll never change.

At the Clavell house, I found Branwen and her uncle Édipo awkwardly avoiding each other's gaze. Ed's toddler daughter Isaura was there too, as well as his brother Zacarias. But where was Xander? And what about Alba and Blanche?

"I'm so glad to be seeing you again, girls. You know I won't be here for much longer..."
"We know, Grandpa Xander. That's why we came here."
"Yes, we'll stay with you until the end."
"That's...very kind of you, girls."

"Blanche, one of my regrets is that I never knew you as well as I knew your sister. She played with me a lot when she was a kid...so I guess we were closer because of that. So I hope you can forgive me for that. I was not playing favourites, I can assure you. I love all three of my granddaughters equally. You, your sister and your cousin Isaura."
"I know that, Grandpa. There's no need to worry."
"That's such a relief."

Meanwhile, Branwen wandered away and ended up falling asleep on the Clavells' couch. What a weird girl. Her uncle Zacarias definitely wasn't very impressed. And I just kept wondering where was Alba during all this.

Alba arrived a while later, though, and just in time for a pop up to appear saying that Xander had passed away. :( It was really weird. One minute he was there, the other he was gone. I didn't even see Grim. Poor Alba realized what happened, and got a 2 day negative moodlet for supposedly witnessing Xander's death. So sad.
"Oh, little girl, I can't believe your Grandpa is gone. What am I going to do without him? I feel so lost...we were two halves of the same person."
Poor, poor Alba.

Even going back to her house didn't help Alba.
"Oh, Xander, I miss you so much! You were my one and only love. My heart is broken now."
:'(

Sure, she did try to calm herself down for Gauri and the twins...but it didn't work.
"Alba, I know it hurts, but you'll get over it with time...oh, what am I saying! I'll never forget Xander, never!" *sob*

Xander's death had me distracted for a while, but soon I remembered I had to announce who the next heiress would be.
Blanche, you won. You shall be the gen 3 heiress.
"Me? Wow, this is so sudden...why not Branwen?"
Dunno, the readers chose you. They probably thought you were better suited for the job.
"Oh, I have to go tell my sister..."

"Branwen...nothing worked. A heiress was still chosen, despite us wanting to stay together. And it seems it's me. I'm so sorry...you know what this means, right? You'll have to leave the house when you become a young adult."

"WHAT? No! Blanche, why can't I live here with you? Sometimes that happens, spares staying at the legacy house...I could raise your kids while you were at work, I'd do anything! Please! I can't leave you, you're my twin and my best friend!"
"No, Branwen. You'll have to grow up some day. I think you should leave after we age."
"But why?"
"Because it's for your own good, silly! You can't depend on me all the time! This will be a fantastic opportunity for you to prove what you're capable of!"

"But...but..."
"Come on, Branwen! You're not a baby, you are a teenager now. You have responsibilities. I trust you, and I know you'll have a good life on your own. We have the rest of our teen years to stay together."

"Well...if you say so...OK, then. I'll move out. But I'll still visit you whenever I can!"
"Sure. I'm just so happy, for both of us. This is going to be great. You'll see."

"You promise?"
"Yes, Branwen, I promise. You can always count on me, I'll always be here for you."

As time passed, Gauri continued chatting with her half-brother Ed on the phone every day. She was furious she had missed the Reaper on the day of her father's death, and was determined not to let it happen again.

She also had her adult birthday. Like Alba before her, she looked pretty much the same - she only got some wrinkles.

Speaking of Alba, she tried to look happy for her daughter and granddaughters, but the truth was that she felt more and more miserable every day, and couldn't wait for the day she'd get to join Xander in the afterlife.

She felt guilty for leaving her family, of course, but deep down she knew that they would all be OK. Even Branwen.

"Blanche, now that you are the heiress, you have to find someone to have babies with when you're older, right? What about our male maid? He's kind of handsome, actually."
"Branwen...I'm still a teen! I think it's still way too early to decide who will father my future children!"
"Well, it was just a suggestion. But you should think about it, really."

Blanche wanted what was best for her family, though, and tried to follow Branwen's advice. But, for her disappointment, she couldn't see herself liking the male maid, much less having kids with him one day. Oh well, she would just have to find someone else when the time came.

She also had the idea to visit the Goth side of her family one night. At first, everything was going normally. Her father came outside and seemed happy to see her, asking her to enter the house.

Her half-sister Luciana was also there, and Blanche greeted her with a smile. Yet she couldn't help but wonder if the other girl did not want her to be there, as Luciana's smile didn't reach her cold blue eyes.

This was just the beginning. Things got too weird for Blanche soon after that...there was an old woman there, who introduced herself as Morgana Wolff. And at a certain point Luciana mouthed something to her along the lines of "Yes, she is one of the illegitimate Goths. Unwanted Goths, you could call them."

Blanche just couldn't take it anymore. She quickly excused herself to her father and ran away from the creepy Goth mansion, vowing she'd never go back there, at least not without company. That had been freaky.

She only told Gauri about it, mainly because she didn't want to upset Branwen or her grandmother. But Gauri shrugged it off, saying that "the Goths were weird like that". But she did advise her not to go back there alone at night. She didn't give a reason for it, though, and that worried Blanche even more.

Because she was sure Gauri herself was worried. And when Gauri was worried, it meant the case was serious.

Luciana did come from school with them one day, and apologized to Blanche for her behaviour a few nights before.
"I'm sorry. You don't know what is like to live in that house...it brings out the worst in you, it really does. Sometimes I think it makes us worse people. It has definitely affected me and Dad."

"Never mind, Luciana, I accept the apology. You don't need to give me an explanation."
"Thanks, Blanche. You know, I think I'd be totally lost without you two."
But even though Luciana seemed different that day, Blanche noticed she never actually said who was Morgana Wolff, neither what had she been doing in the Goth mansion that night.

She did try to froget about that incident the best she could, and spend time with her grandmother during her final days...

...because at 90 days of age, Alba's life came to an end.
"What's happening to me? What are these sparkles? I feel weird..."
Goodbye, Alba. :(

"Wow, I'm a ghost now? Does this mean I'm going to see Xander again soon?"

"Alba White, your time has come. Please follow me..."

"So you're the Grim Reaper. The one that my daughter is so obsessed with."
"True, but she won't see me today. I'm not here for her...yet. Anyway, Alba White, come with me. I'll take you to Xander Clavell."
"Really? Yay!"

Everyone in the family took Alba's death really hard. Even Gauri, or was she just upset for having missed Grim again? I guess we'll never know.

Blanche was devastated, and Branwen tried to be the mature one this time and comfort her sister.

But that was no easy task, as she was also heartbroken with grief.

But time heals all wounds, and that was what happened in the case of the White family. Soon Blanche found her half-sister Luciana around town, and noticed she had already become a young adult.

Yes, it was a time of change, and soon the twins had their own birthday.

The first thing they both did was to find a job on the Science career. They had identical LTWs, after all. They also decided that Branwen would get to stay in the house for one more night and would move out first thing in the morning.

And so she did. Branwen was off to build a new life...

...and while Blanche watched her leave, very proud of her twin, she knew it was time for her to build her own life as well. It was time to find the future father of her children and continue the legacy.

This is where I'll leave you. The next chapter will cover the arrival of gen 4, among other things. I'll try to get it out as soon as possible. Until then, goodbye and happy simming to all!

I don't usually cry when sims die, but Alba's death bothered me a bit. It might have been as simply as your :( when she went or... well, I don't know. I haven't had a Sims 3 sim die on me yet (I keep playing on epic lol) but I'm not looking forward to it as you have much more time to get attached to them.

Great chapter! Intriguing!

Thanks, Devin. :)

The founder's death in a legacy is always difficult to witness, even if you don't cry when sims die (I don't either). I was still quite sad, as she was my first TS3 sim to die. :( I think it will be even worse when Gauri goes because she has been around since birth.
