So maybe my characters ARE Mary-Sues...
Feb. 19th, 2010 12:28 pmJust for fun, I decided to take the Mary-Sue Litmus test for some of my characters.
Apparently, Dio is indeed a Mary-Sue. She managed to score 36 points. :O
36+
Fanfiction authors, you might just want to start over. Role-players and original fiction authors, at this point your characters are likely to provoke eye-rolling and exclaimations of "yeah, right!" from your readers. (Well, at least from me.) Immediate workover is probably in order.
Oops, I guess. XD If you want to tell me about your "yeah, righ!" reactions to Dio, go right ahead. :) I accept criticism.
I also took the test for Hell, even though I still have a lot planned for her that hasn't happened yet. She scored a 13, which is ridiculously low. Believe me, I did try to find more Suefying factors, but they just didn't fit her. So..
0-16 Points
Most likely Not-Sue. Characters at this level could probably take a little spicing up without hurting them any.
A boring character. Oh dear. And I that thought that she was at least a semi-decent character.
Electra scored 45. Same category as Dio, I guess. 5 more points and I would have to "kill it dead". Oh wait, I already did that. Never mind. XD
Felicia scored even less than Hell. 10 points. 10 lousy points. And now I'm ashamed. None of my characters seem to fall in the "in-between" category. They're either Sues or Anti-Sues.
But wait, what about Fish, for example?
Hmm, she scored a 20.
17-21
Probably not a Mary-Sue, although a character can go either way at this point. Fanfiction writers should pay attention to ensure that their characters aren't getting too Sue-ish. For an RPG or original fiction character, however, you're probably perfectly fine.
Halellujah, at least one of them is reasonably normal. :D

Date: 2010-02-19 06:22 pm (UTC)And no one has complained about these particular characters being terribly Sue-ish, so...I'd guess it's fine. XD
