Playing TS3 again

Every now and then, I get tired of TS2 and go play TS3 instead. The problem with that is that my laptop can't handle having both games & their EPs installed in it very well. So I had to do all the "packing" routine with my TS2 stuff (downloads, neighbourhoods, packaged sims, etc.), and they're all safe in the backup disk for now.
It's an odd feeling to play TS3 with no CC at all, though, maybe I should download something. I only have 3 EPs (Late Night, Generations and Pets) so it's not like these things are going to take an inimaginable toll on the laptop compared to TS2, with the 6 EPs I have (University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage) plus one stuff pack (Glamour Life) and a Downloads folder with over 30000 files.
It was my first time at playing the TS3 Pets EP though, and I've been pleased with it so far.
Here is my sim, Thyra Darriell, who has the dubious honour of being the first crazy cat lady I've created in TS3 (she is a YA in the first pic, adult in the second).

She adopted her first cat from a neighbour who had a litter of 3 kittens available for adoption. I decided to choose one of the females, and renamed her Silly (I think her original name was Socks).

By the time Silly had already been an adult cat for a couple of days, I had Thyra adopt a male cat (original name Pookie) who was promptly renamed Sir Puffy. (Yes, I know, my names for sim cats aren't too brilliant or dignified.)

I had Silly and Sir Puffy interact until becoming best friends (by the way, I love the fact that we can control pets in every way in this EP - that was something really missing from the TS2 Pets EP. Though the Sims 3 cats might be a little too docile when compared with real cats...)

Eventually, Sir Puffy and Silly tried for kittens, Silly becoming pregnant at the 2nd try, and a few days later, she gave birth to a litter of 4 kittens. Cute little things, I also like the fact how kittens are miniature versions of their adult forms in every way, not just all the same except for fur colour like in TS2.
The kittens are 3 females and a male. I named them Misha, Sissy, Etty and Rolly.
This is Rolly, I think, here seen with his mother.

I'm pretty sure this one, who looks like her father, is Sissy...

...this one might be Etty. She's one of the two kittens who have a half white, half striped face.

And so this could be Misha. Another one with the characteristic face.

I've only played 2 or 3 days after the kittens' birth so far, so they're still small. Not sure how many of them I'll have Thyra keep after they become adults, though. On one hand, I can't have her keep them all, because I want one of them to carry on the line and bring on a next generation of cats. On the other hand, I'll be kinda sad to see them go. Though I might keep two of them around instead of just one.

Date: 2012-06-24 11:31 pm (UTC)Cute kitties, I haven't played with the cats yet-strange since I am a cat person. I had one guy mess around with the horses and my travelling sim has a bird so I can't add a cat in there. I'll have to make another family and try out the cats, the kitten is adorable.

Date: 2012-06-25 03:53 pm (UTC)Showtime seems like a cool EP, I'll have to buy it the next time I have that opportunity. With TS2 gone and no CC, the game is running pretty well for me, I'd say, though it crashed a couple of times the first day. I've been saving it more often now and it hasn't happened since. *knocks on wood*
Is it bad that the horses don't really interest me? Not that I dislike the poor animals, but in real life I don't have much interest in horses either. Of course I had to get cats first, I am a crazy cat lady in training. XD
Though every time I play that house now, I keep thinking about sim cats are so well-behaved compared to my real life ones. Last night, as I was playing this family again, my cats were all in the room and two of them decided it would be a great idea to play with yarn and run around the sofa very loudly as everyone else but me slept.
I'll have to make sim versions of my cats, too. The TS3 pet CAS sounds much better than the TS2 one, judging by the pets' look in the game at least.
By the way, Jo, how many cats do you have in real life? You might have mentioned it in LJ, but I can't remember. Is it 3?

Date: 2012-07-01 05:38 am (UTC)If we had an RSPCA here I probably would have taken him there (he was a stray) But there isn’t any here, so... We’re not even legally allowed 3, but what can you do, dumped/stray/wild cats are a worse problem.
Lol, he's come and flopped down on the floor next to me now doing his 'cute thing' so I'll take notice and go feed him some more. Fighting and eating-his two major pastimes!

Date: 2012-07-03 08:20 pm (UTC)The youngest cat in my house is not that young anymore (he's 5 years old) but has a silly and anxious personality, while lacking the usual cat agility. The result being that every time he's scared, he runs around like crazy breaking everything in sight. I might love him, but I'll be the first to admit the poor thing's not too bright. He is also fond of that 'cute thing'. Can't get enough attention, but only from a couple of people (me, my sister and my mother), as he's scared to death of everyone else. He gets along okay with my other male cat (even if he's too annoying at times) and even tries to play with my oldest cat, with disastrous results as she hates him and will beat him up in a fight (no matter that he's bigger and heavier than her, she's really mean and he's a coward).
How old are your cats, by the way?
