Darriell Family - Update Number Four
Jul. 3rd, 2012 09:09 pmOkay, so when I last left you, the Darriell household had one sim in it, Felicia Darriell (a young adult); one imaginary friend, Sydney Darriell (young adult); and six pets: Silly Darriell (elder female cat), Misha Darriell (elder female cat, Silly's daughter), Benjamin Darriell (adult male cat, Misha's mate), Mungus Darriell (adult male cat, Benjamin and Misha's son), Arya Darriell (adult female cat, Benjamin and Misha's daughter) and Norrie Darriell (adult female cat, Mungus' soon-to-be-mate).
And a great way to start the update is with a raccoon showing up at the lot and eating all the cats' food. Nice. I didn't miss these guys from Sims 1 one bit. (It's a good thing that there aren't any of them around where I live.)

Felicia dropped by the park to make some money playing her guitar, and, after stopping for a snack, she ran into Xenia Bedlington, now an elder. (Xenia was a good friend of Felicia's late mother Thyra.) Felicia became a friend of Xenia as well since this day.

Back at the household, she spent some quality time with the cats, as Sydney proved to be quite the clingy imaginary friend once again.

And Thyra's ghost appeared, to do exciting ghost things such as...play games on the laptop, and take a nap. Seriously, what is it with ghosts and naps in this game? You'd think they would never feel the need to sleep again after, you know, dying, but they keep proving me wrong. Must have missed the comfy beds or something.

Felicia became friends with a firefighter named Clarindo Neves around that time, which soon progressed to something more. I was just relieved to see a male firefighter appeared, as I had intended her to breed with one ever since I learned about hidden traits and how to get them. Felicia spent her whole teenhood, and quite a few days of her young adulthood, calling the fire department (and getting fined for it), with just female firefighters popping up. It was starting to drive me crazy.

She quickly got pregnant, even though Sydney apparently tried her best to prevent it, never giving poor Clarindo and Felicia any privacy.

Had her eat some watermelons, too, to ensure that I'd have the next crazy cat lady on her way.

Felicia then announced her pregnancy to Sydney, who was pretty happy, considering the fact she'll never be able to interact with her best friend's daughter in any way.

She read the required pregnancy books, too, and...

...finally went into labour after a pretty much uneventful pregnancy. While Sydney panicked.

With no help from her imaginary friend, Felicia managed to make it to the hospital on time. She gave birth to, of course, a baby girl, who was named Dorilys Darriell. Since I was able to choose 2 traits for the new baby, I randomized them and ended up with Evil and Loves the Outdoors.

Felicia did have a short blissful time with her new daughter, until the Grim Reaper decided to show up again to make everyone's life miserable. I thought he had come for Silly, who had reached the age of 77 days at this point (kind of impressive, considering their life bars get full at around 50 days or so). But no - Grim came for the 60-day-old Misha.

And after taking Misha to the underworld, he stayed on the lot and proceeded to do the oddest thing I've ever witnessed in this game so far.
Yes, that's right. The Grim Reaper decided the maid wasn't doing too well at his job, so he took it into his bony hands to clean the cats' litter box. Only in the Sims 3, seriously.

But wait, after all, that was just a break. He did come for Silly after all...

And, as usual, was a complete jerk to the sims, laughing at their grief, while he is nice to cats and makes sure to even clean their litter boxes. Pleasant fellow.

Felicia was heartbroken over the loss of Silly and Misha, but thankfully this time Sydney was there for her and offered some support.

Meanwhile, Mungus and Norrie finally tried for kittens, with Norrie getting pregnant after the first try. Though the poor things were still pretty upset over the recent deaths.

Finally, Dorilys became a toddler, looking very much like her father in colouring. Still too early to know about any possible hidden traits, though.

Just before leaving, here's the usual end-of-post trait recap (once again, the * marks traits the cats learned, and were not born/generated with):
-Felicia: Virtuoso; Genius; Family-Oriented; Loner; Animal Lover
-Sydney: Virtuoso; Rebellious; Excitable; Good; ???
-Benjamin: Independent; Hunter*
-Mungus: Playful; Calm; Hunter*
