Returned yesterday, just wanted to let you all know things went OK. Don't know if I mentioned it before (probably not as I wrote the last entry in a hurry), but the reason we went to England in the first place was to visit an elderly relative - my great-aunt, the younger sister to my late maternal grandmother.
She's 88 years old, has been living in England for 52 years, and has been living on her own for quite a few years now (her husband passed away 5 years ago or so, and he had been not living with her prior to that for a while, too, as he had Alzheimer's). I was completely amazed at how independent she is for her age. She goes for walks on her own every day, still cooks her own meals most of the time, she can still sew (apparently she has no issues with her eyesight whatsoever - she doesn't even need glasses! She was even surprised that me and my siblings wear glasses at our ages. XD), she draws, and quite well, too, considering this was something she only started a couple of years ago. Basically, she put us all to shame, even saying that it was odd that herself, an old woman, had the energy to walk around while "the young people" (me, my siblings, parents and aunt) got tired very easily. And the oldest of us, my aunt, is 30 years younger than her! She's just awesome, and it's sad that we can't see her that often anymore. She used to travel to Portugal, also on her own, when my grandmother was still alive, but no more. I just hope I am half as well as she is by age 60 or so! (Seriously, it's really sad how I behave more like an old lady than she does, and I'm 21. Shame on me.)
