Random OWBC Question

(Yes, another one. Sorry, folks, I keep coming up with these OWBC-related doubts.)
Okay, does anyone know how grouchy does a sim need to be to steal back the gnome? Because mine has been gone from the lot for ages, and I've kind of realized that might be the cause. My sims are too nice to get it back - Olive has 10 nice points, and her non-bad apple kids all have 6 or more. The bad apple is most likely a nice sim, too, definitely acts that way. Olive's husband is low on nice points, but I've never seen him even try to get poor Glycogen back. Though when Oil lived at the lot (and when she and Olive were at college), I could always count on her to retrieve Glycogen. (Oil has 3 nice points, by the way, she was the only grouchy sim around the previous generation, all of her siblings and both her parents had 6 or more.)

That's actually a fallacy because nice sims can indeed steal back the gnome. Way back, I think when Opal was a teen she stole back Norm and she has 10 nice points! Mean sims obliviously do it more often but they don's have to be nice. Also if you remember my gnome went missing one time when Rolly was a child and didn't turn back up until recently. So it can also take a very long time.

Aww, I thought there was something to it. I saw it mentioned in several OWBCs, and it proved true with my sims (except for Olive's husband, that is).
I hope someone does bring back Glycogen eventually...he's been missing for almost one generation now. :(

I only ever had 4 sims steal back the gnome in my OWBC, their personalities were:

2,8,2,6,7
5,5,3,8,4
10,6,9,1,1
4,4,4,7,6

I never did see a pattern in there, unfortunately, and they were 2 pleasure sims, a romance sim, and a family sim, so no pattern there either. It's bizarre.

And the same here, my gnome was missing for 13 sim days once, and was eventually retrieved, so never give up hope! :D

I was really hoping there was a pattern. :( My gnome has been missing for a very, very long time now, it was stolen before Olive even had any kids, and now her oldest is 6 days away from adult or so. I really hope someone gets it back soon.

Once again, I can't read the previous comments for some reason, so please forgive me if this is repeated. A Sim with one Nice point will always go to retrieve the gnome. (I have Sims fighting over who gets to go, actually.) I think Sims with two or three nice points will go too. You have to be sure your sims are free at gnome retrieval time, which is about 10pm, or they won't head out either.

I always check my sims' actions around that time (based on the time span during which Oil stole back the gnome at college, too), and it hasn't even popped up in anyone's action queue.

Jo and Amylu said that there isn't really a pattern to who can steal the gnome, meaning that the lack of mean sims shouldn't be an issue. Apparently mean sims are only more likely to steal back the gnome, not the only ones that will actually do it. :( I was hoping there was a pattern I could count on, since mine has been gone for so long, but oh well, I guess I'll have to keep waiting for someone to bring it back.
